GOZO
The isle of Calypso, as Gozo has traditionally been known, is the sister island of Malta. Victoria, popularly known as Rabat, is the island's capital. The main seaport is Mgarr Harbour. Yacht mooring facilities are also available.
The Citadel or "Gran Castello" has an imposing cathedral, impressive historic bastions and the quaint remains of old houses. One of these, the so-called "Norman House", has recently been restored and set up as a folk museum. There is also a Museum of Archaeology and the Cathedral Museum.
GGANTIJA PREHISTORIC TEMPLES
A group of two very important temples erected side-by-side on the Xaghra plateau. Close by, one can also find the 17th century Xaghra Windmill.
ALABASTER CAVES
In the small town of Xaghra are two underground caves with strange alabaster forms of stalactites and stalagmites. These are popularly known as Xerri's Grotto and Ninu's Grotto.
CALYPSO'S CAVE
This cave, overlooking the red sands of Ramla Bay and situated in the cliff face some distance from Xaghra, has a legendary connection with Calypso, but aIso dominates one of the most inspiring views in Malta and Gozo.
THE BASILICA OF TA'PINU
Among the outstanding churches in the Maltese islands is the votive Basilica of Ta'Pinu. It stands in open country close to the village of Gharb and the hamlet of Ghammar.
MARSALFORN
This fishing village on the north coast has developed over the years into Gozo's most popular sea-side resort.
XLENDI
This land-locked sandy and pebbly beach, tucked away in the south under towering cliffs, has a character all its own.
XEWKIJA
A small town with an imposing new church ingeniously built around the old parish church of St. John the Baptist.
THE INLAND SEA AND AZURE WINDOW
The Inland Sea is a secluded pebbly bathing pool with crystal clear waters and sheer cliff faces hanging dramatically over it. It is also known as "il-Qawra".
COMINO
Comino is the smallest island in the Maltese archipelago. Only a handful of farmers live here and neither cars, nor other noisy activities disturb the peaceful tranquility of this little paradise. There is only one cozy beach hotel. If you are in your element in or beside the sea, Comino offers vacationers the ideal setting. The many bays and rocks in Comino and the cristal-clear waters are ideal for any kind of water sports, especially snorkeling and scuba diving. There is regular ferry service to, and from, Malta and Gozo.
