Guyon) and Van Gogh's Oise (Pontoise, Auvers sur Oise, the Abbey
of Royaumont), the School of Barbizon and the banks of Marne with
Nogent which inspired Renoir. Melun welcomed the surrealists
and Dali and Meudon always attracted sculptors, with the villa
des Brillants surrounding Rodin, where nowadays following Jean
Arp at Clamart, others create their work. The Matisse museum in
the Cateau-Cambresis has some large collections. Villeneuve d'Ascq
offers works by Braque, Miro, Modigliani and Picasso, in its Museum
of Modern Art.
